MEA-Retired Leaders attend Summer Leadership
Aug 04, 2016
Nearly three dozen presidents and leaders from local MEA-Retired chapters, along with state MEA-Retired officers, participated in MEA’s annual Summer Leadership Conference, held on the campus of Lake Superior State University in Sault Sainte Marie. The annual event, held July 26-28, draws both active and retired MEA leaders from throughout the state. Attendees had the opportunity to take part in a variety of sessions over the three-day period, and were inspired by a presentation from keynote speaker Christopher Lloyd, a former television journalist and current elementary teacher and association leader from Maryland.
MEA-Retired leaders spent all day Wednesday in a session that featured a variety of topics and facilitators. Among the activities included for attendees were a legislative update from MEA Lobbyist Christina Canfield; a Blue Cross/Blue Shield health care Q and A session with Branko Bojicic, BC/BS MPSERS Representative; a wellness discussion with MESSA Health Promotion Consultant Mona Tropf and opportunities to share communication ideas and work on local websites.
