Income Tax Cut Fails a MI House Vote

Michigan House Republican leaders expected to push through an income tax cut with mostly Republican support this week. However, 12 GOP state representatives defied their party leadership by voting no - with many saying they heard from too many constituents opposed to the idea. 

Those Republicans joined with all of the Democrats except one to hand Rep. Tom Leonard of DeWitt his first loss as House Speaker early Thursday morning. Opponents said they could not support a plan to cut a $1 billion hole in the state budget.
