Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment
Today, August 26, 2020, marks the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which guarantees the right for women to vote.
A bipartisan group of female elected officials and political activists – including MEA President Paula Herbart – recorded a video with the Macomb County Clerk’s office, reflecting on the struggle for and significance of this event in American history. The video features 18 local, county, state, and national leaders who are women with connections to Macomb County.
The video is the centerpiece of the 19th Amendment Centennial Project, which includes other information and resources to mark the historic occasion.
