DeVos: Pandemic a “Good Thing” for Schools
In a recent interview, U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos continued her pandemic push against public education, saying that it’s a “good thing” that the coronavirus pandemic will force changes in schools.
Instead of advocating to get educators the resources they need to safely restart school this fall – something Joe Biden and Gary Peters have consistently championed since March – DeVos continues to push her agenda that puts profits ahead of students.

Poll Workers Needed for November Elections
Michigan is facing a record shortage of poll workers this year due to the coronavirus. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has engaged in a full-scale push to ensure there are enough workers to safely conduct this November’s election.
NEA has partnered with “Power the Polls” to help recruit people to be poll workers. Our democracy depends on ordinary people who make sure elections run smoothly and everyone's vote is counted. While many MEA members work on Election Day, there are others who can help make sure we have a safe, fair, efficient election for all, including retirees, aspiring educators and family members.
